Free Language Exchange Events, Online and In Person

These are real events run by other organizers — KindLearn does not run them. Registering takes you to the host’s own site.

A language exchange is a meeting where people practice each other’s languages — you help someone with the language you speak, and they help you with the one you are learning. There is usually no teacher and no lesson plan. At an in-person exchange, organizers often seat people at tables by the language they want to practice; online, you are matched with a partner.

This page is a short, hand-checked list — online partner matching, in-person exchanges in New York, and the Polyglot Conference. KindLearn does not run any of them.

Online or in person: the formats listed here

• Language.Exchange pairs you with someone online who speaks the language you are learning. It suits anyone without an exchange nearby, and you can take part from any time zone.
• Regular meetups in New York at bars, cafes, restaurants and a park. The Language Collective meets on Tuesdays; Langroops meets on Saturdays and Sundays; LEXGO runs events on varying days. Some venues are 21+, and some ask you to buy a drink.
• The Polyglot Conference runs a four-day online event, Polyglot Conference Global, from October 8 to 11, 2026, and an in-person conference in Bologna from November 18 to 20, 2026. Both are paid, with talks and language practice.
